Urgent call for action regarding Budget 2011 Implications for St. Patrick’s N.S.

As outlined in the December Newsletter rural schools such as St. Patrick’s have been unfairly targeted! In order for you, the Parents, future parents and locals to make your feelings known to the present Government you will find below a list of all TD’s and Senators. I encourage you all to contact your local representative and make your feelings known.

Mrs Bennett’s Retirement Function 28/9/11

Mrs Bernie Bennett, retired at the end of August. She joined the school in 1978 and after a few years was Principal. She will leave a huge gap. We will miss her sense of dedication and fun. To mark the end of an era, a Mass was held in honour of her service to the school. Staff, parents, and pupils past and present donated gifts. The Board of Management and Staff from the other local schools also made a presentation to her. We had a great night. Many thanks to Rathwire Hall and staff, to Rosie Ennis for the most excellent food, Mrs Sarah Carey for the wonderful cakes and to all those who set up and cleared away. The children from 2nd-6th class played the tin whistle for the Mass and they were excellent.

Many of the parents of current pupils also went to the school, even some grandparents! It was lovely to see all the different generations of past pupils.

Poems- by the Infants

The Zoo

Monkeys swinging

Elephants stamping

Wobbling penguins

Children giggling

Yummy ice-creams!

by Aobha Corroon, Eleanor Fox, Seán Tormey

At the Cinema

A lot of little children queue

For tickets, glasses, and popcorn too.

Seats are sqeaking, glasses clinking.

A big loud voice, and

Now it starts!  Shhh! Shhh!

by Robyn Geoghan, Darragh Glynn, Ruth Shanley, and Chloe Smith

At the Zoo

Animals eating,

Monkeys swinging from tree to tree

People eating, people looking,

Lions prowling, lizards sleeping.

What a busy place!
